About Our Ultrasound-Guided Injection Clinic

Our clinic offers a consultant-led service for treating a wide range of joint and muscle conditions using ultrasound-guided injections. These include Corticosteroid and Hyaluronic Acid injections.

Our Sport and Exercise Medicine Consultants are highly experienced in diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal issues, working with everyone from the general public to elite athletes.

Why Choose Ultrasound-Guided Injections?

Ultrasound-guided injections allow the consultant to see exactly where the needle is going, ensuring the injection is placed in the right spot. This makes the treatment safer, more effective, and longer-lasting, while reducing the risk of complications.

What Are Steroid Injections?

Steroids can reduce inflammation and pain, and some occur naturally in the body. The steroids used in injections mimic these natural ones to target inflammation and provide pain relief.

Steroid injections are often used for conditions that involve pain and inflammation, such as:

· Osteoarthritis

· Soft tissue injuries

It’s important to note that these steroids are different from the anabolic steroids used by bodybuilders. While steroid injections provide quick relief, the effects are usually temporary.

What Is Hyaluronic Acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance used to treat Osteoarthritis and tendon-related conditions. In our clinic, we use Ostenil Plus during treatment.

Hyaluronic acid helps restore the balance of joint fluid, easing pain and improving movement. It’s a safe treatment option and can be part of a wider rehabilitation program. Like steroids, the effects are temporary, but it’s a great option for active individuals looking to manage joint pain naturally and continue exercising.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

1. Initial Consultation At your first appointment, the consultant will assess your condition using ultrasound to determine if an injection is right for you. If recommended, you’ll receive detailed information to take home, so you can understand the procedure’s risks and benefits. If the consultant feels an injection isn’t the best option for you, they’ll discuss other treatments that are more suitable for your condition.

2. Injection Appointment If you decide to proceed, you’ll book a second appointment for the injection. Afterward, physiotherapy is often recommended to help you get the best results from the treatment.
