Antenatal and postnatal services
We offer a bespoke package of pre and postnatal pregnancy care which includes 1:1 Pilates sessions with instructor Joy Turnbull, massage therapy with Jill Saxby or direct referral to our obstetric consultant partners at Sheffield Private Pregnancy Care.
Antenatal Pilates
Antenatal Pilates is designed to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles, keeping core muscles healthy in preparation for birth. During each trimester, safe exercises will be encouraged, helping to maintain strength during birth and aid postnatal recovery, as well as:
- Reducing back & joint aches and pains
- Helping to prevent injury
- Building core strength
- Reducing swelling, muscle tension & headaches
- Reducing stress, anxiety & depression
- Improving labour outcomes
Postnatal Pilates
Postnatal Pilates is for clients who have undergone medical clearance from their healthcare professional (6 weeks/12 weeks c-section) and can:
- Aid postnatal recovery
- Build core strength, flexibility & stability
- Improve the pelvic floor
- Help prevent back injury
Massage therapy
Massage therapy performed during pregnancy can reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pains, improve labour outcomes and new-born health. Massage therapy addresses different needs through varying techniques. Antenatal massage can also:
- Reduce back & joint pain
- Improve circulation
- Reduce swelling
- Reduce muscle tension & headaches
- Reduce stress and anxiety
- Improved oxygenation of soft tissues and muscles
- Aid better sleep
