Melanie is an experienced Paediatric Physiotherapist, specialising in the neuro developmental field. She studied in Manchester and qualified in 2006 with a 1st Class (Hons) Degree in Physiotherapy.
Melanie initially gained experience in a range of acute specialities before specialising in paediatric physiotherapy in 2010. Within her Specialist Children's Physiotherapist NHS role she sees a range of complex patients. She works in a variety of settings including outpatients, home visits, school and nursery visits, Neonatal Unit and hydrotherapy.
Melanie works with a range of a Neurological and Neurodevelopmental conditions including Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Delay, Neuromuscular conditions and coordination difficulties. She has also been involved in rehabilitation of children post SDR surgery.
Melanie is a member of the APCP (Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists) and is Level 3 Safeguarding trained and DBS checked. She has gained additional post-graduate training including:
- Basic Paediatric Bobath Foundation Course
- Foundation Course in Aquatic Physiotherapy
- Paediatric Gait Analysis Course for Physiotherapists
- Lacey Assessment of Preterm Infants (LAPI)
- Simple Stuff Works Postural Care Training
Melanie has a friendly and engaging approach and strives to help children to reach their full potential whilst also having fun.
Away from work Melanie enjoys spending her time with her husband and two children, family and friends. She also enjoys road running and trail running in the Peak District.
