nSTRIDE APS Injections
Introducing nSTRIDE APS injections, an injection treatment designed to provide short and long-term relief for knee osteoarthritis.
What is it?
Knee pain can unfortunately be an issue in people of all ages. It can be caused by a traumatic event but often it can gradually come on over time, likely due to arthritis.
The most common type of arthritis is Osteoarthritis (OA). This occurs when the cartilage at the end of the bones becomes worn and struggles to cope with the stresses and strains that go through the knee joint.
Symptoms of osteoarthritis can include pain, swelling, decreased range of motion and decreased mobility.
nSTRIDE Autologus Protein Solution (APS) is an injection treatment designed to have both a short and long term alleviating effect on the symptoms associated with Osteoarthritis in the knee.
How does it work?
In an osteoarthritic joint the balance of inflammatory proteins called cytokines compared to anti-inflammatory proteins favours the inflammatory proteins.
The higher number of inflammatory proteins causes pain and swelling due to an increase in cartilage degeneration.
An nSTRIDE APS injection introduces a high number of anti-inflammatory proteins which overwhelms the inflammatory proteins and results in improved symptoms of the knee.
Laboratory, animal and human studies have shown that nSTRIDE APS injections are able to:
- Significantly Reduce Pain Associated with Knee OA for up to 3 years
- Significantly improve Mobility in the Knee Joint associated with OA
- Improve Knee Pain by up to 70% at 3 years following a Single Injection
What happens during the consultation?
Some blood will be taken from you in the same way as with a blood test. This blood is then put in a machine called a centrifuge which spins the blood at high speed and separates its components.
The white blood cells, platelets and plasma proteins are then taken and used as part of the injection.
You may experience side effects for example bruising, local pain or swelling after the blood has been taken or the injection itself. The consultant will be able to talk you through this as well as answer any other questions you may have.
After the injection
It will be recommended that you have a course of physiotherapy after the injection. The reduction in pain, swelling and stiffness will provide a window of opportunity where exercises are easier to perform.
A course of physiotherapy will help to improve your range of movement, strength and function and will result in better long term improvements.

What is Autologous Protein Solution made of?
Autologous Protein Solution contains concentrated white blood cells, platelets, and plasma proteins in a small volume of plasma. The output is approximately a 2 to 3 cc anti-inflammatory solution.
How does APS work and why?
The proposed APS mechanism of action is a process of reducing OA-related upregulated inflammatory cytokines by introducing antagonistic cytokines which inhibit the inflammatory cytokine activity.
Are there side effects?
Side effects may occur (e.g., bruising, local pain or swelling) associated with the blood draw and/or knee injection.
What are the main benefits of nSTRIDE Autologous Protein Solution?
nSTRIDE APS may significantly decrease pain, reduce stiffness and help restore function.
When will the treatment start to work?
Pain relief can be expected after one to two weeks.
Will I be able to be active as usual during the course of my treatment?
It is recommended that you minimise your activity level for 14 days (not to exceed pre-injection levels) after the injection.
